Mamelodi Sundowns decline FNB Stadium as host for MTN8 final against Orlando Pirates

Mamelodi Sundowns have shot down suggestions that the MTN8 final be played at FNB Stadium.

Sundowns face Orlando Pirates in the Wafa Wafa final on October 10 and the PSL is yet to announce the venue for the match.

But the FNB Stadium has been suggested by the PSL to both teams and Sundowns are said to have declined the 2010 World Cup venue as an option.

Miguel Cardoso's side management felt the Soweto venue is Pirates' alternative venue and they would be at ‘home’ while the venue should be a neutral one for both teams.

Now, this impasse has brought back the idea of the game being played at Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The PSL is yet to disclose the venue but for now the FNB Stadium is out of contention as a possible setting for the game.
