Mamelodi Sundowns cruises past ST Eloi Lupopo with a 3-1 win at home. Nuno Santos bagged a brace in this Caf Champions League match
Nuno Santos netted a brace for Mamelodi Sundowns as they defeated ST Eloi Lupopo 3-1 this afternoon at Loftus Versveld.
Santos’ goals came both in the first and second halves while Marcello Allende scored the other goal in this Caf Champions League first leg match.
The visitors netted through Ramos Wanet a minute before half time.
Lupopo played in patches but were never really a threat to Sundowns, who displayed their class on the day.
Sundowns’ carpet football depicted the gulf that exists between the two sides and also proved Lupopo’s Group Stages qualification was by sheer fluke.
That Orlando Pirates managed to reverse a 3-0 score-line here at home was testament to their lack of tact in their play as even today the club from Democratic republic of Congo did not look a team to trouble Miguel Cardoso’s side.
The win signals a positive start from Sundowns as Al Hilal from Sudan defeated Algeria’s MC Alger 2-1 in the other match of the same group yesterday.
