Makgalwa and Nemtajela in line for their Bafana Bafana debuts against Zambia in a friendly match
Masindi Nemtajela and Keletso Makgalwa have one thing in common.
These players are likely to be handed their maiden Bafana Bafana caps this afternoon in the friendly international against Zambia.
Bafana host the Chipolopolo in Gqeberha today as a preparatory match for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Orlando Pirates’ Nemtajela has been drafted into the national side by Hugo Broos alongside Sekhukhune United’s Keletso Makgalwa.
These players have been impressive for the respective sides and a national call up was inevitable.
Former Marumo Gallants midfielder, Nemtajela has established himself as a dependable midfield hard-man and creative force for Abdeslam Ouaddou’s Pirates.
His box to box plays and high tempo game has made Broos take notice.
Like Nemtajela, Makgalwa has been one of those consistent players for Eric Tinkler at Sekhukhune United.
From set-pieces to eliminating opposition defenders, Makgalwa has been a key player for Babina Noko and truly deserved a look at Bafana level having earned his spurs internationally at junior level.
“That depends a bit on how the game will go – I want to win the game, and if we have the opportunity to give them some minutes, or more minutes to play, we will certainly do it,” Broos said this week.
To cap their impressive so far, both these players could earn their maiden caps for Bafana today.
The match starts at 3pm at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
