Major departure in Africa! Carlos Queiroz leaves Ghana with immediate effect
A run of disappointing results has led to an early parting of ways with the renowned coach.
Details: Experienced Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz has officially stepped down as head coach of the Ghana national team. The decision to end the partnership took immediate effect after an agreement was signed with the country's football association to terminate the contract.
The split was prompted by the team's extremely underwhelming results on the international stage. In seven official matches under the 73-year-old coach, Ghana managed just one win, drew twice and suffered four defeats.
In an official statement, the federation thanked the Portuguese coach for his work and announced the start of the search for a new manager to address the team's tournament objectives.
It is worth noting that throughout his coaching career, Carlos Queiroz managed Real Madrid and the national teams of Portugal, Iran, Egypt and Colombia, while also spending many years as Alex Ferguson's assistant at Manchester United.
