After nearly a decade guarding Barcelona’s net, Marc-André ter Stegen’s days at the club may be numbered. The coaching staff, led by Hansi Flick, reportedly no longer see him as their first-choice goalkeeper for next season.
The German manager and club leadership have set their sights on 24-year-old Joan Garcia from Espanyol, aiming to bring him in this summer. The plan: Garcia will take over as the new number one, with seasoned Wojciech Szczęsny serving as his backup, according to Football Espana.
Nevertheless, ter Stegen himself is not planning to leave Barcelona just yet. He hopes to remain and fight for his starting spot, despite the club’s efforts to find a replacement. Moreover, his substantial salary is another factor driving the Blaugrana management’s interest in a potential transfer.
