Maher Kanzari is no longer the coach of ES Tunis
The defeat against Stade Malien in the CAF Champions League was the final straw.
Maher Kanzari was dismissed following the 1-0 defeat in Bamako against the Malian club on Sunday 8 February in the fifth round of the African Champions League. The club made the separation from its coach official a few hours later.
‘The club president, Mr Hamdi Al-Madab, has decided to terminate the contractual relationship with coach Maher Al-Kanzari. The composition of the new technical team will be announced in the coming days,’ ES Tunis said in a statement.
Supporters had been putting pressure on the club following the performance in Mali, which they deemed unacceptable. Espérance Sportive de Tunis fans were furious and even called for the suspension of players' salaries and bonuses and the immediate dismissal of the technical staff, led by Maher Kanzari.
