Magesi FC Zimbabwe goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze; It's painful having to leave the Africa Cup of Nations as we hoped to leave an impression in Morocco
Elvis Chipezeze is a disappointed man.
The Magesi FC goal-minder is not in a great mood following the exit of his native Zimbabwe from the Africa Cup of Nations.
Chipezeze’s Zimbabwe failed to make it past Group B having lost to Egypt and South Africa, only managing a point against Angola.
Against South Africa, they did show some glimpses of great football to cause an upset and qualify for the last-16 but it was not to be.
In the 3-2 loss to South Africa, Chipezeze was on the bench as 40-year-old Washingston Arubi was in goals for the Warriors.
“It's difficult and painful for us. We wanted to be the team that made history by qualifying for the next round, but we'll take the positives out of this tournament, because at the end of the day, many more AFCON's are still to come," Chipezeze said.
“This is something we need to build on, and maybe with a bit of a luck we could've jumped over this hurdle but it wasn't meant to be."
