The Bangladesh national team will be replaced by another team at the T20 World Cup.

Details: According to UNB, today the Bangladesh government officially announced that their national cricket team will not travel to India for the T20 Cricket World Cup.

It is reported that Bangladeshi authorities made this decision due to the unstable and unsafe political climate in India.

A representative of the Bangladeshi government stated:

"Bangladesh will not go to India for the World Cup due to security threats—this decision was made by the government of Bangladesh. No other organization has the authority to make such a decision.

We must also consider the damage that would be caused if we participated in the World Cup. To expose our players, fans, and journalists to real risk amid the current regional political situation, when we would lower our heads... this is harm that must be weighed."

The International Cricket Council had earlier stated that if Bangladesh refused to go to India for the World Cup, their place would be taken by Scotland. However, Bangladeshi authorities still insist that their team should not be disqualified, but rather that the venue for their matches should be changed.

The T20 Cricket World Cup will be held in Sri Lanka and India from February 7 to March 8, 2026.

Reminder: Victory secured! New Zealand defeats England again!
