Georgian forward Georges Mikautadze of Lyon was the victim of an armed robbery in which thieves stole items worth a total of €250,000 from his home, reports French newspaper Le Progrès.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Sunday, shortly after Lyon’s match against Nice, in which Mikautadze played. Two unidentified assailants in hooded clothing threatened the player with weapons and took expensive leather goods and jewelry, including valuable watches. Thankfully, Mikautadze was not physically harmed.

The investigation into the crime is ongoing as police work to identify and locate the culprits.

Mikautadze made a name for himself during the summer of Euro 2024, scoring four goals for the Georgian national team. Following his impressive performance, he was signed by Lyon from Metz for £6.2 million.

This season, Mikautadze has made 17 appearances for Lyon, scoring four goals and providing one assist.

Lyon currently sits fifth in the Ligue 1 standings, trailing leaders PSG by 11 points. In the Europa League standings, the French club is seventh, with 10 points after five rounds.
