American billionaire John Textor, who is the main shareholder of Lyon, praised the team's performance in the new season.
In particular, he spoke about the club's possible relegation from French Ligue 1. After nine rounds, Lyon ranks last in the standings and does not have a single victory.
Textor is confident that his team is too strong to face such a threat.
“Our current place in the standings does not correspond to our potential. However, I want to admit that the season will be mediocre, and that’s a fact,” he said.
Textor also admitted that he should have fired former Lyon head coach Laurent Blanc in the summer.
In the last match of the 9th round of Ligue 1 between Lyon and Clermont, held on October 22 at the Groupama Stadium in Lyon, Clermont won with a score of 2:1.
Clermont are currently in 17th place with five points, while Lyon are bottom of the table with three points. The club plays under the leadership of Italian Fabio Grosso.
