Lucas Radebe is convinced Bafana Bafana can win this years Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco

Lucas Radebe is convinced Bafana Bafana’s third-place finish in the previous edition of Africa Cup of Nations is a solid foundation for their plan to win this year’s Afcon.

Radebe, who was part of the 1996 Bafana winning squad, believes Hugo Broos’ men are armed with championship material in terms of playing personnel.

Bafana are in the same group with Zimbabwe, Egypt and Angola. The former Kaizer Chiefs and Leeds United captain concedes it will not be as easy but that Bafana are solid foundation will put them in good stead for the spectacle in Morocco.

The tournament starts next month from 21 December to 18 January.

“It’s a tough group but we have the quality to compete, especially that the foundation is there now after winning that bronze in Ivory Coast,” Radebe said.

“Egypt are not the same team anymore and we can overcome them. In fact, I believe we can go all the way and win it.”

Bafana play Zambia this Saturday in Gqeberha in a friendly international as preparatory game.
