Living in luxury: Media uncover Infantino's FIFA-funded lifestyle
FIFA president Gianni Infantino has long been entangled in various corruption investigations, the latest of which recently emerged in Switzerland. The global football chief is facing scrutiny over the perks and expenses he receives from FIFA.
Details: According to the Swiss newspaper SonntagsBlick, in addition to Infantino’s annual salary of nearly $4.5 million, FIFA covers the rent for his Paris flat and a house in the Swiss canton of Zug, costing 7,950 Swiss francs per month.
Furthermore, the organization pays $5,000 a month for the school tuition of one of Infantino's daughters in Miami. The Swiss official also benefits from private flights, all funded by FIFA's budget.
Since the Qatar World Cup, Infantino has been spending more time in Miami. Following his family's relocation from Qatar to the U.S., Miami now appears to be his primary residence. FIFA previously stated that Infantino remains a Swiss citizen and continues to pay all applicable personal taxes in Switzerland.
Reminder: It was recently reported that the U.S. could host two consecutive FIFA Club World Cups.
