Liverpool will recall the midfielder from loan ahead of schedule

Liverpool has decided to recall midfielder Fabio Carvalho from his loan spell at Leipzig, as confirmed by the insider Fabrizio Romano. The Portuguese midfielder is set to join Liverpool in January, although he was initially expected to continue playing in Germany until the summer.

Liverpool signed the 21-year-old Portuguese player in July 2022, securing his services from Fulham for around six million euros.

During the summer of 2023, the Reds loaned the Portugal U-21 international to Leipzig. However, the midfielder struggled for sufficient game time within the German side. He participated in 15 matches for the Bulls, tallying a total of 360 minutes on the field. In the Bundesliga, he appeared in nine matches, starting only once.

Carvalho emerged from Benfica's academy and was noticed by Fulham in 2014, leading to his move to the Premier League.

Liverpool closed out 2023 atop the Premier League, amassing 42 points in 19 matches. Jürgen Klopp's side is set to face Newcastle on January 1st.
