Liverpool have begun exploring a potential move for Barcelona defender Jules Koundé. According to 4-4-2, the Merseyside club are maintaining contact with the French footballer through intermediaries and are considering a move for him during the winter transfer window.

One of the reasons behind the 27-year-old’s potential departure is believed to be his changing status under Hansi Flick. This season, Eric García has moved higher up the pecking order among the defenders, meaning Koundé can no longer count on a guaranteed place in the starting lineup. According to media reports, the footballer has begun seriously considering his future.

Liverpool have not yet made an official offer, although behind-the-scenes negotiations are already under way. Barcelona, however, have no intention of letting the defender leave on the cheap: the Catalan club are looking to receive at least £52 million for him.

It should be noted that Liverpool are not the only club interested in the Frenchman. Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal are also monitoring the situation and are reportedly aware that the player is open to considering a move to another club.
