The future of Italian winger Federico Chiesa at the Merseyside club has come under serious doubt.
Details: In a candid interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, the player openly admitted that securing a regular spot in the starting lineup is his top priority, and he’s prepared to take drastic measures to achieve it.
The situation for the player at Anfield is truly bleak:
"I want to play regularly. If I can’t find stability in the Premier League, I’ll have to look elsewhere. In my first year at Liverpool, I barely played at all..." he said.
The forward makes no secret of his frustration with the lack of playing time, which has significantly stalled his career since making the move to England.
Nevertheless, Chiesa intends to give both himself and the club one last chance during preseason. The Italian confirmed that he will join the team on their summer tour of the United States, where he’ll try to prove his worth to the new coaching staff. As a reminder, the Merseyside club has officially appointed Spanish manager Andoni Iraola as their new head coach.
“I’m going on the preseason tour to the USA, after which I’ll talk with the club’s management and the new head coach Iraola, and then we’ll see,” Chiesa concluded.
It’s worth noting that this season the Italian has made 36 appearances for the Merseyside club across all competitions, scoring 3 goals and providing 3 assists.
