Liverpool are focused on strengthening the right-back position, actively exploring available options to add depth to their squad. One of the club’s primary targets was the talented Dutchman Givairo Read, but that move is now off the table.
Details: According to insider Fabrizio Romano, the deal fell through due to a serious injury to the defender—Read is sidelined for several weeks. Liverpool decided not to take the risk of signing a player who can’t help the team immediately, and have shifted their attention to other candidates.
Despite Liverpool’s setback, the race for Read is only intensifying. Manchester City and Bayern Munich remain seriously interested in the Dutchman and are already laying the groundwork for a summer transfer. The European giants see him as a long-term prospect and are willing to wait for his full recovery before launching official talks in June.
Notably, this season the Dutchman has made sixteen appearances for the Rotterdam club, scoring once and providing three assists.
Reminder: Inter are interested in Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones.
