Liverpool has submitted an initial offer to Mohamed Salah as part of ongoing discussions to extend his contract, according to The Athletic. Details of the proposal remain undisclosed, but this marks the first formal step by the Reds to secure the Egyptian star’s long-term commitment.

No deal has been made, despite Anfield's hope that Salah and defender Virgil van Dijk would stay with the team. Since Salah, van Dijk, and academy graduate Trent Alexander-Arnold will all be able to discuss pre-contract deals with international teams beginning January 1, the circumstance puts more pressure on Liverpool.

Liverpool has reportedly presented renewal offers to all three players, with discussions still in progress. The Athletic also previously revealed that van Dijk received a renewal proposal from the club.

For now, Liverpool faces a race against time to secure their core stars before they potentially explore options abroad.
