Liverpool may be set to make a surprising move in the winter transfer window by selling one of the team's key players. The focus is on 26-year-old French international centre-back Ibrahima Konaté, who has become the subject of intense transfer speculation.
According to L'Interista, the Merseyside management are seriously considering offloading the French defender as early as January. The reason is straightforward — Liverpool do not want to risk losing the player on a free transfer next summer. Reports suggest the club is willing to part ways with Konaté for around €15 million, which could be a major incentive for Inter Milan, who are regarded as one of the main contenders for his signature.
The Italian giants had previously considered signing Konaté as a free agent, but the current scenario opens the door for a winter swoop. If Konaté is sold, Liverpool plan to reinvest the funds in acquiring Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace.
