Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Joao Gomes is being closely monitored by Liverpool, who see him as an ideal signing to strengthen their squad. The club are keen to jump at the chance to sign the 23-year-old Brazilian, especially if Wolves are relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.
Inside Track senior correspondent Pete O'Rourke has revealed in a recent podcast that Wolves' financial woes could force the club to put key players up for grabs.
According to Football Insider, Gomes is one such player, with Liverpool's age, creativity, technical skill and aggressive style of play fitting in perfectly with the club's requirements.
Despite interest from Liverpool and Manchester United, a January move for Gomes is unlikely as he remains an important figure in Vitor Pereira's side's struggles.
Wolves are currently above the relegation zone on goal difference alone, adding to concerns about their future. Recent heavy defeats to Nottingham Forest and Newcastle have left the club in a difficult position.
