Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi has been heavily linked with a similar position at Liverpool in recent times, with the Italian's successor at the Seagulls' camp even being named and agreed by the latter himself. But it seems De Zerbi's departure from the club may not happen.

According to talkSPORT, the 44-year-old has not made it clear to Brighton that he will leave the club, while the bosses themselves have discussed with De Zerbi the possibility of extending his employment agreement, which is now valid until the summer of 2026.

In favour of keeping De Zerbi is the fact that Brighton are under no financial pressure to sell any more of their star players.

In fact, owner Tony Bloom has ambitious plans to recruit players for the upcoming summer transfer window as he aims to turn Brighton into a recognised European team.
