Premier League clubs have long turned their attention to the African football talent pool—just look at Mohamed Salah. But Liverpool's talisman could soon be joined by a fellow continent-mate in defense.

Details: According to Sport Witness, 19-year-old Rennes centre-back Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal has caught the eye not only of the Reds, but also of Newcastle United. After moving from his homeland to Rennes last summer, Ait Boudlal hasn’t made a single appearance for the first team and was loaned out to Amiens in the winter transfer window.

Reports indicate that Newcastle have met with the player, while Liverpool have tabled a concrete offer, though the report does not specify the details of that bid. The Moroccan youth international is also being monitored by Nice and two unnamed Spanish clubs.

Reminder: Liverpool and Newcastle are already locked in a transfer tussle, with the Reds reportedly targeting Magpies striker Alexander Isak.
