Ligue 1 to Open Summer Transfer Window a Month Early
In the summer of 2025, the Club World Cup will take place in the USA, prompting Ligue 1 to decide to open its transfer window earlier than planned.
Details: According to L'Équipe, this year the transfer window in France will open on June 1, a full month earlier than usual.
Quote: "This earlier opening compared to previous seasons is due to FIFA's decision to hold the Club World Cup from June 14 to July 13, 2025. FIFA has also allowed club associations participating in the tournament to establish an additional transfer window period from June 1 to June 10, 2025," stated representatives of Ligue 1.
It should be noted that France will be represented at the Club World Cup by only one team – PSG.
Reminder: Previously, the English Premier League announced its intention to change the closing date of the summer transfer window. The league's management wants the window to close not on the last day of August, but before the start of the new season. However, implementing this idea faces challenges.
