Lewis Hamilton didn't like wearing team gear. He talks about the start of his F1 career
Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton is a big fan of fashion and always aims to look stylish. Thanks to his status as a style icon, he will even co-host the legendary Met Gala this year. Just before this event, the athlete gave an interview to Vogue magazine, where he talked about the challenges of wearing fashionable clothes at the start of his career.
Today, the Briton is known in Formula 1 for his fashionable, extravagant outfits, but initially, he didn't have the opportunity to dress that way. Hamilton admitted that when his career was just starting, his team manager was unhappy with the way he dressed.
Because of this, Lewis had to adapt to fit in. He would even change into different clothes after leaving home and change outfits again before returning.
"When I started, I was only allowed to wear suits and team apparel. It was a nightmare. I felt uncomfortable, and I wasn't allowed to be myself. But at some point, I had the courage to say, 'Hey, I want to wear this. Now I'm part of the racing series, and you can't get rid of me — so live with it.' The resistance was huge, but when people realized the impact it had, other drivers started dressing that way too," Hamilton stated.
It should be noted that currently, the Ferrari team racer appears in the paddock only in team gear.
