Less than 20 seconds: the fight between Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano is over
Rousey needed just 17 seconds
On Sunday, August 17, Los Angeles played host to the MVP MMA tournament, headlined by the highly anticipated bout between Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano.
Details: The fight ended much quicker than anyone expected: at just the 16-second mark, Rousey locked in a submission hold, forcing Carano to tap out almost instantly.
For Rousey, the former UFC champion, this marked her first appearance in the octagon since August 2016, when she suffered back-to-back defeats. Carano, meanwhile, hadn’t competed since 2009, when she was stopped in the first round by Cris Cyborg.
