Lens cancels goalkeeper loan deal just hours after signing
On the morning of Wednesday, January 8, Lens officially announced the loan signing of Marseille goalkeeper Pau López. However, the situation took an unexpected turn.
Details: By the evening of the same day, Lens confirmed that the loan deal had been terminated. Despite the agreement being finalized and officially announced, Lens decided to cancel the move.
The issue arose when Girona, López's previous club, informed Marseille that they would not release the player until January 29. Lens found this condition unacceptable and opted to call off the deal.
Context: Earlier, Rennes officially announced the signing of France international goalkeeper Brice Samba from Lens. The transfer fee was €15 million, and Samba signed a contract until the summer of 2029.
Manchester City is in active contact with the representatives of Lens and Uzbekistan national team center-back Abdulkodir Khusanov. The 20-year-old has agreed to the transfer, and Man City has already submitted an inquiry to his club.
