Leicester is highly likely to face punishment for breaching financial fair play regulations last season. However, for the Foxes, this penalty will be particularly frustrating.

Details: According to former Everton CEO Keith Wyness, Leicester will indeed be docked six points. But the club could have struck a deal with the authorities and accepted the deduction this season, as the Foxes had already been relegated to the Championship.

Quote: “I think the new squad will have points deducted. They should expect something like a six-point penalty while in the Championship. The irony is that if they had accepted the charge this season, they would have been relegated anyway – so it would have been logical to take it now. Next season, they'll be fighting for promotion with a six-point deduction,” Wyness told Football Insider.

Recall: Earlier, the Premier League changed its financial fair play rules, adding a clause that extends the regulations to teams relegated to the Championship. This season, that includes Ipswich, Southampton, and the aforementioned Leicester.
