UEFA has handed down penalties to Poland's Legia for the misconduct of their fans ahead of the UEFA Conference League match against Aston Villa.

The organization ruled that the Warsaw club's supporters will be barred from attending the next five away matches of their team in European competitions. Additionally, the club will be required to pay a fine of €100,000.

It is worth recalling that a skirmish occurred between Legia fans and local law enforcement before the Birmingham match. Visiting Legia supporters incited disorder, attempting to force entry to the stadium without tickets, which had been reduced from 2100 to 890 at the last moment.

During the altercation with fans, three police officers sustained injuries and were hospitalized, while nearly fifty troublemakers were detained.

Meanwhile, the match concluded with Aston Villa winning 2-1. The Birmingham team has already secured their place in the tournament's playoffs. Legia, with nine points, holds the second position in the group standings with one round of the group stage remaining.

Today, on December 14th, the Polish team will face AZ, whom they lead by three points. A draw will be sufficient for the Polish team to advance from the group stage.
