Former Real Madrid and Argentina midfielder Fernando Gago is on the verge of becoming the head coach of Argentine club Boca Juniors.

According to football insider Nicolo Schira, both parties are in the final stages of negotiations.

Gago is a product of Boca, where he began his football career.

He retired as a player in 2020 at the age of 34 after a series of injuries, with his last club being Vélez Sarsfield. Throughout his career, Gago also played for Valencia and Roma.

As a coach, the Argentine has worked at Racing and in Mexico with Guadalajara.
