Several top biathletes have already concluded their careers this season, and now it’s the turn of another athlete to announce his retirement.
Details: According to Biathl On Live, legendary Austrian biathlete Simon Eder will retire after this season. Like fellow Austrian Lisa Hauser, Eder will compete in his final races this weekend in Oslo’s Holmenkollen.
Eder is a two-time Olympic medalist in the men’s relay (2010, 2014) and a five-time World Championship medalist (2009, 2016, 2017, 2021). His best overall World Cup finish was fifth place in the 2013/14 and 2015/16 seasons.
Reminder: After one of the biathlon events at the 2026 Olympics, Norwegian biathlete Sturla Holm Lægreid admitted it had been the worst week of his life, confessing that he had been unfaithful to his girlfriend.
