The legal battle between Manchester City and the Premier League has produced another intriguing claim. One of Britain's most prominent government barristers has been linked with the case, raising fresh questions about the legal heavyweights involved.

Details: According to Polymarket FC, Sir James Eadie KC is representing the Premier League against Manchester City. Eadie is a highly experienced British barrister known for his government work and Supreme Court appearances. However, the reported appointment has not been independently confirmed. Earlier reporting by The Guardian and The Lawyer identified Andrew Hunter KC, Adam Lewis KC and Jason Pobjoy KC among the Premier League's lawyers, with Lord Pannick KC representing City.

Eadie is associated with the historic government legal role commonly called the Treasury Devil. The position involves advising and representing the British government in important legal proceedings. His extensive experience before the Supreme Court explains why the reported connection has attracted attention, although his involvement in City's appeal still requires confirmation.

The dispute follows the independent commission's September 29 finding that Manchester City breached the Premier League's financial regulations. The club rejected the conclusions and submitted an appeal in early October. City argue that the original decision contains significant errors of fact, law and principle. The appeal panel must now review the arguments before the case can reach its next decisive stage.

It's worth noting that Lord Pannick is an experienced Supreme Court advocate who has previously represented prominent political figures and major international clients. Manchester City's legal team also includes Paul Harris KC, while recent reports linked Mark Howard KC with the appeal. No final sporting sanction has been imposed, and the hearing timetable remains uncertain.

Reminder: Another twist! Manchester City's historic financial appeal faces unexpected delay.
