La Liga results:who qualified for European competitions and who got relegated from the top division?
The season in Spanish La Liga has come to an end. Only one match remains to be played, but the outcome of the Sevilla vs. Barcelona game will not affect the positions of the teams in the European competition zones.
Real Madrid secured their 36th Spanish championship title, finishing the season with a significant lead over the second place. Barcelona finished second, overtaking the sensational Girona only in the final stretch. The fourth representative of Spain in the Champions League will be Atlético Madrid.
In fifth and sixth positions are the two Basque teams — Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad, who will play in the Europa League. Real Betis secured a spot in the Conference League.
Cadiz, Granada, and Almería will leave the top division. In the Segunda Division, five teams — Leganés, Valladolid, Eibar, Espanyol, and Racing — are vying for the two direct promotion spots to La Liga for the next season. The remaining spot will be contested in a mini-playoff tournament by the teams finishing 3rd to 6th.
