Kylian Mbappé reacts to his long-awaited return to the pitch after illness
Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé finally made his return to the pitch after a bout of acute gastroenteritis. The player came off the bench in the Club World Cup Round of 16 clash against Juventus.
The Frenchman was thrilled to be back and marked the occasion with a post on his Instagram page, sharing photos taken before and during the match.
"Quarterfinals here we come. So happy to be back with the squad after that difficult time. Thank you to all the fans in Miami for the support, I felt so loved here.
See you in NYC. Hala Madrid!" the caption read.
It's worth noting that Mbappé was brought on as a substitute midway through the second half against Juventus. Los Blancos secured a 1-0 victory, with Gonzalo García—whom Kylian replaced—scoring the decisive goal.
This win sends the Spanish side into the tournament quarter-finals, where they will face Borussia Dortmund. The match is scheduled for July 5 in New Jersey.
