Kvaratskhelia was absent from training with Napoli due to health issues

Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia missed the team's training session on Wednesday.

In an official statement by the reigning Serie A champions, it was explained that the Georgian international did not train due to gastroenteritis. His participation in Napoli's upcoming Serie A match against Empoli is uncertain.

This season, Khvicha has scored 20 goals and provided 8 assists in 40 matches for Napoli across all competitions.

Earlier reports indicated Barcelona's interest in the Georgian player, but Napoli's president is reportedly preparing a staggering release clause for Kvaratskhelia ranging from €130 million to €150 million at the end of the season.

Earlier, Aurelio De Laurentiis himself commented on the new agreement with Kvaratskhelia. The current contract of the winger is valid until 2027.

Napoli currently sits in eighth place in the Serie A standings. They will face Empoli on Saturday, April 20th.
