Krepin Diatta and Lamine Camara receive support from their coach at AS Monaco following the decision by the CAF Appeals Committee
Sebastien Pocognoli says he is proud of what the two Senegalese internationals have achieved.
The decision by the African Football Confederation’s Appeal Committee to strip Senegal of the African champions’ title and award it to Morocco continues to provoke reactions. The AS Monaco manager spoke on the matter on Saturday 21 March. In his statement, the Belgian tactician expressed his support for his players Krepin Diatta and Lamine Camara. Despite the controversy, Sebastien Pocognoli insists that the two Senegalese players have not been deeply affected.
For me, they remain my champions. I think Krepin and Lamine feel the same way. For them, they are champions. We can’t control anything that’s taken out of context. But it hasn’t affected them too much, so whatever the outcome, we can always discuss the whys and wherefores of how it was done. But we had to play those matches and win them. We’re very proud of what they’ve achieved. I think they’re aware that they’re champions.
