A few days ago, it was announced that Klopp is coming out of vacation to become the "global director of football operations" at Red Bull. In light of this news, reports emerged that the German had long promised to lead Red Bull.
Details: According to Münchener Merkur/TZ, Klopp promised to join the organization back when he was coaching Liverpool in 2022. He met with Dietrich Mateschitz, the founder of Red Bull, who was terminally ill and passed away a few weeks after their conversation.
Mateschitz managed to persuade Jürgen to take the helm of Red Bull. Klopp assured him that he would do so. However, Bild has refuted this information. The current head of Red Bull, Oliver Mintzlaff, stated that these are unfounded rumors. The meeting with Dietrich Mateschitz was merely an introduction to Klopp.
Mintzlaff also mentioned that there is no verbal commitment from Klopp to join if requested by the German Football Association should they want him to become the coach of Germany.
Reminder: Klopp has commented on his appointment as the head of football operations at Red Bull.
