Kicked in the head: Joey Barton accused of assaulting wife while intoxicated

Joey Barton is back in court, facing allegations of assaulting his wife, Georgia Barton, while under the influence of alcohol. According to The Sun, the controversial former English footballer allegedly knocked his wife to the floor during a drunken argument and kicked her in the head.

Reports reveal that Joey and Georgia had consumed 4-5 bottles of wine during a dinner with two other couples before an argument broke out. Barton reportedly threatened to fight Georgia’s father and brother over a family dispute.

The assault left Georgia with a bloody nose and a bump on her forehead. She called the police, stating that her husband had hit her and noting that it was the first time such an incident had occurred.

The incident took place in 2022, with Barton initially denying the accusations. At the time, the case was dropped after Georgia withdrew her complaint. However, in 2024, the court decided to reopen the case, ruling that the earlier decision to close it had been incorrect.
