Kenyan athlete Emmanuel Wanyonyi became the champion in the 800 meters at the 2024 Olympics.

The Kenyan won the gold medal with a time of 1 minute and 41.19 seconds, setting a personal best.

Wanyonyi edged out Canadian Marco Arop by just 0.01 seconds, who, in turn, achieved the best result in his continent's history. The third place was claimed by Jamel Sedjati from Algeria.

This is Kenya's fourth gold medal at the Paris Games. The African country is in 16th place in the overall medal standings with 11 medals of various colors.
