At the Olympic swimming tournament, the women's 200-meter backstroke final took place.

Australian swimmer Kaylee McKeown not only won the gold medal but also made history for her country. She completed the distance in 2:03.73 minutes, setting a new Olympic record.

This marks Kaylee's fourth individual gold medal at the Olympics, making her the first Australian across all sports to achieve such a feat.

Additionally, the 23-year-old Australian has now equaled Hungarian swimmer Krisztina Egerszegi’s record for the number of Olympic medals in backstroke swimming, with both athletes having four medals each.

Regan Smith from the USA took second place, while the bronze medal went to Kylie Masse of Canada.

It is also worth noting that French swimmer Léon Marchand secured his fourth gold medal at this Olympics by winning the 200-meter individual medley.
