Karate Kid over Forrest Gump? Michael Owen ranks every movie he’s ever seen
Former Liverpool star Michael Owen made headlines with a unique ranking of all the movies he’s ever watched—a task that didn’t take long, as he claims to have seen just eight films in his entire life. He shared his thoughts in an interview with the Premier League.
Owen has been vocal about his dislike for films. In 2014, he famously complained about being forced to watch a movie on a long flight from China, adding the hashtag #HateFilms to his tweet.
The eight films Owen has seen include Rocky, Heat, Ghost, Jurassic Park, Cool Runnings, Seabiscuit, The Karate Kid, and Forrest Gump. Surprisingly, Owen ranked The Karate Kid as the best, giving it 8 out of 10, while the Oscar-winning Forrest Gump earned only a 6.
He was particularly unimpressed with Rocky, scoring it just 3 out of 10.
Owen’s aversion to films is as unique as his football career was extraordinary. A prodigious talent at the turn of the century, he won the Ballon d’Or in 2001, beating Real Madrid striker Raúl and Bayern Munich goalkeeper Oliver Kahn to the coveted award.
