Kaizer Chiefs enter the race to sign free agent former Sekhukhune United goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner
Kaizer Chiefs have entered the race to sign out of contract Renaldo Leaner.
The former Maritzburg United and Sekhukhune United goalkeeper is a free agent after Babina Noko failed to trigger option to renew his contract before deadline day last month.
Now, the player has been heavily linked with a move to Orlando Pirates, who have been courting the player for a while.
But Pirates have extended the contract of their number two goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi which meant Leaner may have limited opportunities if he were to sign for the Sea Robbers.
But now both Chiefs and AmaZulu have entered the race to sign the player as he is currently club-less yet a very solid player.
Chiefs have no solid golaminder in their ranks as number man Brando Peterson has the erratic Bruce Bvuma as his deputy.
So Leaner could be an invaluable signing.
Like Chiefs, Usuthu also are thin in their goalkeeping department as Richard Ofori, who was their number two, left the club.
It will interesting where the bright prospect Leaner will end up with so many clubs lining up for his signature.
