Kaizer Chiefs defender Thabiso Monyane: I know what to do to be in Bafana Bafana's World Cup squad as I know what Hugo Broos wants in a player
Thabiso Monyane has not given up on making it to Bafana Bafana.
Monyane, Kaizer Chiefs right-back, is hoping to show determination and hunger when the Betway Premiership returns hoping to catch Hugo Broos’ eye for a place in the Bafana side.
“Coach Broos is a man of his word,” Monyane told iDiski Times.
“He wants to see how you work and how you can fit in the system. The biggest lesson I got from him is not to be one-dimensional.”
Monyane is one injury prone player from his days at Orlando Pirates has been lacking consistency for Amakhosi but a dependable player when fit.
He is hoping to make the Bafana squad to the World Cup next year which will be hosted by USA, Canada and Mexico.
“I’m still hopeful of making the World Cup squad. I know what I can bring to the team. I’ll keep working, keep pushing – because you never know. There will always be competition, especially looking at our league, which is one of the biggest in Africa," he said.
“I look at myself and say I am competing with the best, and to be seen as one of the best right-backs in the country is a blessing. And I know the competition is tight, but as long as I know I can improve and I believe in myself, I know that everything is possible.
“The Bafana opportunity is there; it is up to me to grab it. I know who I am competing against, and I am working hard towards getting there.”
