Kaizer Chiefs coach Cedric Kaze on their elimination from the Caf Confederation Cup: It is hugely disappointing that we are out of this competition
Cedric Kaze has described losing to Zamalek in the Caf Confederation Cup a huge ‘disappointment’.
Kaze reacted to Saturday’s 2-1 loss to the Egyptian side in the Caf competition after Amakhosi finished third in Group D which was not enough for a place in the last eight.
“First of all, I would say that it is a big disappointment for us, we’ve put a lot of time and effort in this competition,” said Kaze after the game at Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Egypt’s Ismailia.
“We tried all we could, but I believe that today we didn’t get into the game with the right attitude and right mentality because I feel we did gave a lot to the opponents, time and space to create, we respected them a lot.
“The first goal that we conceded in the second half was coming from in front of the wall. The second goal too is avoidable. It’s a big disappointment for us, but that is football.”
Now Chiefs face real possibilities of finishing the campaign without any silverware as they are out of the Nedbank Cup with the Betway Premiership being the only trophy they can aim for.
Kaze agreed they needed to move on from the continental disappointment while also taking lessons forward.
“We need to take lessons from this and move on,” he said.
