Cedric Kaze has highlighted the reason why Kaizer Chiefs have been silent in the current transfer window.

While Amakhosi’s fierce rivals in Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have been active in the transfer window, there has been no news coming from Naturena on new players.

Co-coach Cedric Kaze has disclosed the reasons why last season’s Nedbank Cup champions did not venture into the transfer market for new players.

“I’m very happy with the squad that we have,” said Kaze.

“We signed practically 12 players at the beginning of the season. And as I said, the struggles that we had in a pre-season which didn’t put especially the new players into very good conditions to play or to understand how we want to play. Now we have had time to rectify that.

“And we’re pretty sure that we’re going to see more quality from everyone, especially from the new players.

“And as well, you know January it’s a tricky period. You need to be careful how you sign players and I’m not saying as well that we’re not signing any player.

“We are looking, if there is an opportunity that we can get, we’ll go get it. The period is ending at the end of the month. But as well, the players that we have now we know that they will compete very well.”

Chiefs face Golden Arrows tomorrow at FNB Stadium as the Betway Premiership resumes following the Africa Cup of Nations recess.

Chiefs are fourth on the standings and see themselves as championship dark horses this season.

The game starts at 7.30pm.
