On January 10th, the first leg of the English League Cup semi-final took place between Liverpool and Fulham. The game ended with a score of 2-1 in favor of the hosts.

After the match, Liverpool's manager Jürgen Klopp commented on the success of his team:

"It was very tough. In the first half, we created some problems for ourselves. They defended very compactly, and we had to make changes at halftime, and the guys coped very well.

They had big chances on the counter, then we dominated, we scored, and everything was good. It's not the best game we've ever played, but we're all human.

Everything was too slow, and we had to change that. Then it was a good game, and the fans were with us all the time. Initially, we just didn't give them a reason to be happy. The right, correct performance by Liverpool.

Fulham is a really good team. Can you play against us quite aggressively? No, because then we'll hit you on the counter. It was an open game, and we want to reach the final, and if we play a really good game against Fulham again, we will achieve a good result. If not, then we'll congratulate Fulham," said Klopp.

The second leg between Liverpool and Fulham will take place on January 24th in London at Craven Cottage, the home stadium of the Cottagers.
