JS Kabylie Eyes French-Comorian Amir Abdou as Potential Head Coach

After Abdelhak Benchikha suddenly resigned on January 3 because of tensions with fans, JS Kabylie is now looking for a new coach. One of the top candidates is French-Comorian coach Amir Abdou.

Abdou, who is 52 years old, is currently without a team after leaving his position as coach of Mauritania’s national team in November 2024. He is renowned for having led Comoros and Mauritania to historic qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations, among other accomplishments. Abdou is reportedly in serious talks with JSK, and his low wage demands may help him land the position.

JS Kabylie had considered Abdou for the coaching role last summer but chose Benchikha instead. However, Abdou’s track record of achieving big results with limited resources—like Mauritania’s unbeaten run and regular appearances in the Africa Cup of Nations—has made the club interested in him again.

According to reports, negotiations are progressing and Abdou has expressed enthusiasm in the challenge of returning JS Kabylie to its prosperous history. Abdou appears to be the club's first pick, however they are still in contact with other potential applicants.
