Former heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder (43-3-1, 42 KOs) remains open to fighting Anthony Joshua (27-3, 24 КО). Wilder believes that Joshua's team is using his loss as an excuse to back out of the potential match.

“They really don’t want that fight. When I lost, did you see how happy he was coming out? I broke out laughing, I said, ‘That n***a’s happy as f***.’ I made him able to perform like that.

He was like, ‘I ain’t gotta fight Wilder.’ The rumour was he was talking about retiring if I won… March 9th, the fight still can go on. But this is a perfect way for them to get out.” Wilder is quoted by journalist Michael Benson on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

As a reminder, Wilder lost to Joseph Parker in a decision in a boxing event in Saudi Arabia. Joshua, on the other hand, confidently won his match against Otto Wallin.

Had both fighters won their respective matches, they were slated to face each other on March 9, 2024. However, these plans are now uncertain due to the American's recent defeat.
