Former heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder criticized another former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, suggesting that AJ has lost the respect and authority he once held in the boxing world, claiming that no one fears him anymore.

“I don’t even need to say anything about Joshua. It seems that many fighters are already better than him. It seems like he doesn’t have the respect he once had. A lot of the guys coming up disrespect him and say anything to him".

“And I think that’s kind of a frustrating thing for him, to go from one state of mind – everyone respects him – to now losing a few times and everyone now thinks you’re very beatable and we can beat you, so we’re going to talk trash to you and get to you”, - quotes Wilder Boxing-social.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua's promoter, previously discussed ongoing negotiations for a fight between his client and Wilder.

Wilder's most recent bout occurred on October 15, 2022. The American secured a knockout victory over Robert Helenius in the first round. Deontay held the WBC heavyweight title from 2015 to 2020.

Following two defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, Joshua stepped into the ring twice. The Briton first secured a unanimous decision win against Jermaine Franklin and then scored a knockout victory over Robert Helenius.
