Joseph Parker evaluated the superb victory over Deontay Wilder
In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at the Kingdom Arena on December 23, a grand boxing show took place.
The main event of the evening was a bout between former world champion Anthony Joshua (26–3, 23 KOs) from the United Kingdom and Otto Wallin from Sweden (26–1, 11 KOs).
Anthony Joshua had a significant advantage and won the fight prematurely, in the 5th round.
In the main fight in Saudi Arabia, an upset occurred. American Deontay Wilder (43–2–1, 42 KOs) lost to New Zealander Joseph Parker (33–3, 23 KOs) by unanimous decision of the judges (111–118, 110–118, 108–120).
Following the victory over Wilder, Parker commented on his success:
"Merry Christmas to us! It was a dangerous and tough fight, but we prepared very diligently for it. People had different plans, but this is God's plan. Today, we secured the victory, so congratulations to us on Christmas!
Deontay has a new coach, and perhaps he is implementing new methods that he's been working on, but maybe the long inactivity played its role," Joseph said.
