Josep Guardiola becomes the most titled coach of the FIFA Club World Cup
Manchester City decimated Fluminense in the final of the Club World Football Cup with a resounding scoreline of 4-0.
According to Opta, this victory propels Manchester City's head coach, Pep Guardiola, to the summit as the most decorated manager in the history of the Club World Cup. For the Spanish tactician, this marks his fourth title, surpassing Real Madrid's coach Carlo Ancelotti, who boasts three cups.
Furthermore, Guardiola becomes the first manager to secure the Club World Cup with three different clubs (with Barcelona in 2009 and 2011, with Bayern Munich in 2013, and now with Manchester City in 2023).
In addition to this milestone, Pep has now claimed 37 titles in his managerial career, accomplishing this feat over a span of 14 years. At the top of the list for the most titles is the former Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, with 49 trophies.
It is worth recalling that on February 1, 2016, Manchester City signed a three-year contract with Guardiola, and he commenced his tenure from the 2016-2017 season. Alongside the "Citizens," he has triumphed in every conceivable competition.
