Joan Laporta comments on Barcelona's search for a new striker
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has shed light on the club’s transfer plans for the upcoming summer window.
Details: In his most recent interview, Joan Laporta emphasized that strengthening the attacking line is not a critical necessity for the team. According to Laporta, the current squad is already well-equipped with quality players, allowing the club to remain calm in the market and avoid making hasty signings.
“If there’s a need, we can sign a striker, but it’s not an absolute requirement,” Laporta stated.
The president expressed full confidence in the team’s current attacking leaders, noting that Hansi Flick already has two top-class strikers at his disposal—Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres. Laporta is convinced that they are capable of achieving the highest objectives in both La Liga and European competitions.
Nevertheless, the Blaugrana are leaving the door open for potential deals. Laporta confirmed that the club’s sporting director, Deco, will play a key role in this matter. If an exceptional opportunity arises on the market that fits Barcelona’s philosophy and financial capabilities, Deco will present the proposal to the management. The final decision will be made collectively, based on the club’s best interests.
Reminder: Barcelona has announced two candidates for the club president position.
